Night It Up Night Market 2011 Press Conference

Friday morning I was invited to attend a Press Conference for the upcoming night market event, Night It Up. This is a night market event I never miss, I have been attending every year!!
Just incase you have no idea what it is like, check out this post where I attended last year!

Here's the rundown of the press con, they had wonderful guests including Grant Clark, Korinna Lam and the Mayor of Markham - Frank Scarpitti.
The MC is filled with humor and did a wonderful job at last minute changes.

We also had a sneak peek at some of the preformances for the night market!

I love her dance and costume!!

There was also a bit of food sampling =P

I have no idea what this is, but it was colourful and comes in cute shapes!!

We all had a separate box to try out, it was lettuce and osysters.
Pretty interesting. I can't wait to stuff my face at Night It Up!!

Some of the Organizers of the Power Unit.

They are a non-profit youth organization that is behind Night It Up! There are currently 125 core members and has cumulatively raised over $65,000 for Toronto charities and non-profit organizations. I took the chance to speak with Yang to get to know more about what they do. On top of organizing Night It Up, they also carry out other projects such as E3 Challenge and Paint-A-Thon (New! for 2011).

The E3 Challenge is a business competition launched in 2005 where participants develop real-life business strategies and execution with the support of event partners. The competition provides promising youths with unique learning opportunities and projects. You will see some booths at Night It Up where participants are actually competiting! For more information on The E3 Challenge, visit http://www.e3challenge.com/.

Paint-A-Thon is an innovative artistic event aimed to bring together the community and is launching on Saturday July 16th, 2011. It’s official beneficiary, Free The Children, shares common values and goals with PUYO in youth development and “children helping children”. For more information on Paint-A-Thon, visit http://www.paintathon.com/.
