REVIEW: Velour Lashes - Are Those Real

Sponsored Post

Recently in June, two of my friends started their own company based in Toronto called, Velour Lashes!
Mabel and Angela are the founders (Velour Girls) and has asked me to do a review for their products! How can I say no to that? But with that said, everything said in the review will remain truthful and honest. I'm sure my regular readers knows I tell it like it is, never holding back :)

Lashes provided to me are Are Those Real and Lash in the City

What is this Product?
Lash in the City
Girls just wanna have fun! These lashes perfectly compliment a dark smokey eye. Designed with extra fur on the entire band to provide a dramatic and full look. This style also adds a touch of “wing” to the corner of the eyes. Shoes and martini’s shouldn’t be your only accessory.

Are Those Real
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the most natural of them all? These lashes are designed for everyday wear, with the mink sparsely distributed along the lash. Although less dramatic, these lashes are still noticeable in terms of its medium length. Are those Real? Maybe, maybe not.

Directions of Use
On the Velour Lashes website, they actually included very detailed and easy to understand instructions to apply these lashes AND how to take care of your lashes.

As for me, I can be quite stubborn so I continue to use my method of applying lashes seen in my Youtube video.
However, I do have a different method of taking care of these lashes! Hence, another Youtube video should be coming out shortly =)

The packaging is stunning, a box in the box. I'm a huge sucker for girly packagings.

Main Ingredients
"Velour Lashes are made up of 100% natural mink fur which have been gently brushed from live mink animal and sterilized to ensure that they are hypo-allergenic. We would like to make clear and public that no harm has been done to these beautiful animals. Unlike synthetic lashes, our 100% natural mink fur is free from any sort of chemical processing and dye which allows for an extremely soft, lightweight, and natural look. With the use of mink fur, Velour Lashes introduces a super luxurious and alluring line of lashes that will allow anyone to look and feel red carpet ready."

How cute! They even have cute messages inside!
I love how there's a little ribbon for you, so it's easy to take out the lashes.
Gotta love all these details.

Price:
Lash in the City - Reg $64.99 CAD ON SALE $34.99
Are Those Real - Reg $59.99 CAD ON SALE $29.99

In terms of price, no doubt, it's definitely more expensive than synthetic and not affordable for an average teenager. I remember it was my 1st year university when I first discovered mink lashes and I could not afford it whatsoever (it was about $200 a pair) However, Velour Lashes is quite affordable! Right now, both of these lashes are under $40 and FREE shipping. I compared with other Mink lashes websites and here are some of the prices:

MinkVixen.com - $99-$160/pair
MyMinkLashes.com - $100-$250/pair

Usually before, mink lashes are strictly used by celebrities and they would be custom-made at $1000+/pair. Nowadays it's so much more affordable in comparison.

Are Those Real will be the lashes I'll be reviewing in this post.

On close observation, I see a few hairs that weren't in shape, but I think its because it's actually handmade and actually real mink so it's like this. I think that because it's not perfect, which makes them even More Natural. =)

Review on Lashes:
These are my first ever mink lashes! It's kind of weird for me wearing a once living fur/hair/lash on my eyes. I am very happy to know that there aren't any form of abuse done to animals in the process of producing these lashes though! All my life, I've always used synthetic lashes so yes, this is definitely something new!

These lashes are really light. I barely felt them on my lids. The lash band isn't invisible but it is as soft as thread-band lashes. This makes them Very easy to manipulate when adjusting it on my lash line. In comparison to my synthetic lashes (where the lash band tends to be stiff), these are much easy to apply.

In terms of whether or not it can live up to 25 uses, I believe that as long as you take very good care of these lashes. It shouldn't be a problem. I'm at about 6 uses right now and cleaned it after every 2 use. I think they are still in mint condition. Simply said, mink lashes are natural hair and because its not synthetic, it needs special care. It's just like your own natural lashes, you would take good care of them to avoid fall outs right? Same with these lashes.

Whereas, my synthetic lashes (take Diamond Lashes for example), I'm quite mean to them and yet they can be reused many times. So I guess, for a lazy and carefree person like me, I do find these lashes a bit fragile for my taste.

Although according to Velour Lashes' instructions, it says not to have mascara on these lashes. I still did it because I'm really used to my way of applying falsies. I have different techniques to take care of them. I will show that in my upcoming video. =)

Like I said, I use mascara to blend lashes and these lashes blends so easily with my own. I've had so many people come up to comment on my eyes when really it's the lashes that did the magic. I must say, they are very flattering =) *Minnie Mouse Wink*

The next two on my want list is: You Complete Me and Doll Me Up!
The style is just like the styles in Japanese Magazines. OMG LOVE!!!!

Myself wearing Are Those Real
Super natural looking.
Great for everyday =)
I will be wearing Lash in the City in my video! Don't miss it =)

Customer Service:
As a new company, I think they are taking every right approach. First, the website is very professional and also resourceful for those who are beginners to false eyelashes. I'm very impressed with their services and communication with customers and potential customers. They reply a lot of their youtube channel's comments! (I rarely see online companies do that)

Shipping is FREE and I received it within TWO business days. That's a record. Regular readers of my blog knows I whine and rant about delivery times a lot. I hate waiting!!

Lastly, I liked that they make their service super customized. A cute card to go along with my package is definitely sweet. =)

Overall: ♥♥♥♥♥
